NHL NOTEBOOK (NHN)-Jordin Tootoo could be lost to the Nashville Predators for at least four weeks after getting hit in the foot with a Shea Weber Slapshot last weekend against the Detroit Red Wings.

Tootoo had two goals and seven assists for nine points in nineteen games so far this season.

Rene Bourque is enjoying a fine season after sitting out a good portion of last year on the IR with a high ankle sprain may indeed force Flames GM Darryl Sutter to sign him to a long term deal. The Lac La Biche, Alberta native, who also happens to be Metis, is a bargain at $1.4 Million.
Consider this, Olli Jokinen has only seven goals so far this year and is making $5.5 Million. He's playing his way out of Cowtown and trading him may free up room to re-sign Bourque who becomes an unrestricted free agent after this year.
Either way, Bourque's stock is on the rise.

After a rough start to his season it looks like Carey Price will carry the load for the Canadiens as Jaroslav Halak is being shopped around for a top six forward. Just how crazy had this gotten? Halak's agent even went so far as to make a public plea for his client to be the starter. Price is now being given the torch in Montreal so it's up to him.

Jonathan Cheechoo has fallen mightily since his 56 goal season a few years ago.
Cheechoo has only one goal and two assists since his trade from San Jose.
Let's face facts, Cheechoo needs a centre who can get him the puck and that isn't happening.
His numbers have been in decline since that magical season of 05/06 but he's capable of scoring at least 25 to 30 goals a season.
Cheechoo might be a reasonable version of Robbie Brown, who feasted off of Mario Lemieux for a couple of seasons before being an extremely average player at the NHL level combined with stints in the minors.
At $3.5 Million, Cheechoo is done earning big money after this year even with one more year left at that salary after this season, look for the Sens to move him if they can, or the more likely scenario, buy him out.
New York Rangers defenceman Wade Redden has rebounded from a subpar first season in the Big Apple.
He's been added to the power play unit and is anchoring a young Rangers blueline.
Rangers Head Coach John Tortorella told the New York Daily News while Redden hasn't lit the world on fire, he's improved. "I don't think he's been great; I don't think he's been bad. He's been steady, and that's what we need out of him, especially when we have four young guys back there."
