Vegas fires three third period goals to sink Jets 4-1 Featured

Winnipeg, Manitoba (NHN)-Ivan Barbashev scored twice as the Vegas Golden Knights downed the Winnipeg Jets by a 4-1 score Thursday night.

His game winning tally came 14:31 into the third when he converted an Anthony Mantha feed, whipping a high backhand shot past Hellebuyck, beating him high blocker side to give the Golden Knights their fourth win in their last five games.

Vegas moved to 40-25-8 and solidified their hold on the 8th and final Western Conference playoff spot.

Pavel Dorofeyev and Jack Eichel also scored for the Golden Knights.

Logan Thompson made 39 saves for Vegas, who have won four of their last five games.

Sean Monahan scored the lone Jets goal on the night.

The Jets went 0-for-5 on the power play.

Connor Hellebuyck turned aside 23 shots for Winnipeg, who dropped their fifth straight game.

Pavel Dorofeyev scored at 15:56 of the first when he converted a William Karlsson feed and snapped a high wrister past Hellebuyck to make it 1-0 Vegas.

The goal was his 16th of the season.

Sean Monahan tied it up 3:31 into the second period as the tipped a Nikolaj Ehlers shot past Thompson to score his 23rd of the season.

Winnipeg had three power play opportunities in the second period but failed to score.

Ivan Barbashev gave the Golden Knights the lead 14:31 into the third when Anthony Mantha slid him a pass while driving the net.

Barbashev one timed it past Hellebuyck on his backhand, beating the Winnipeg netminder high blocker side to make it 2-1 Vegas.

The goal was his 17th of the season.

Barbashev added an empty netter late in the third to seal the win for the Golden Knights.

Jack Eichel also scored into an empty net with 33 seconds to go in regulation.

The Jets winless streak now sits at a season high five games.

Both teams see action on Saturday as Vegas visits Minnesota while Winnipeg hosts Ottawa.
