Predators double up Jets 4-2 Featured

Winnipeg, Manitoba (NHN)-Gustav Nyquist had a goal and an assist to pace the Nashville Predators to a 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets Wednesday night.

Kiefer Sherwood, Filip Forsberg and Jason Zucker also scored for the Predators.

Roman Josi had a pair of assists for the Predators.

Juuse Saros picked up the win for Nashville, stopping 28 shots.

The Predators moved to 38-25-4.

Alex Iafallo scored for the Jets.

Connor Hellebuyck made 34 saves for Winnipeg, who dropped to 41-19-5.

Gustav Nyquist scored 6:38 into the contest to give the Predators an early lead after Roman Josi hit him with a stretch pass at the Winnipeg blue line before he broke in and unleashed a wrister by the faceoff dot beating Hellebuyck high glove side to make it 1-0.

The goal was his 18th of the season.

Kiefer Sherwood made it 2-0 at 14:32 when he converted a Roman Josi feed, beating Hellebuyck high glove side.

Josi took a cross ice feed in the neutral zone from Cole Smith cut to the center of the ice at the top of the faceoff circle before hitting Sherwood pass in the high slot which the Predators winger snapped past Hellebuyck to score his 9th goal of the season.

The Predators carried the edge in play in the second stanza, outshooting the Jets 19-7.

There was no scoring in the second period.

Nashville scored a pair of goals 21 seconds apart to take control of the contest.

Filip Forsberg fired the disc past Hellebuyck after Gustav Nyquist left him a fancy between the legs drop pass for him right in front of the Winnipeg goal.

The goal was his 34th of the season.

Jason Zucker snapped up a rebound off a Colton Sissons shot 21 seconds later and shovelled a backhand shot past the goaltender to make it 4-0 Nashville.

Alex Iafallo scored 13:12 into the third when he redirected a Brenden Dillon shot from the left point past Saros to make it 4-1.

He appeared to have contacted the puck with a high stick but the goal was allowed to stand after the officials conferred on ice and then a further video review.

The goal was his 10th of the season.

Mason Appleton scored a late power play marker to make it 4-2.

The goal was his 11th of the season.

Winnipeg wraps up a three-game homestand Friday while Nashville visits Seattle on Saturday.
